How does PM/400 work exactly?
PM/400 is an integrated function with OS/400 that automates many of the steps required in capacity planning and performance analysis.
Simply activate PM/400 and the OS/400 Collection Services will automatically collect system utilization information. This information can include CPU utilization and disk capacity, response time, throughput, application and user usage.
Note: The information collected is limited to non-proprietary system utilization data coming from Collection Services. Simply activate PM/400 and the OS/400 Collection Services will automatically collect system utilization information. Beginning at Version 5 Release 2 of OS/400, a 60 day history file of PM/400 data is automatically collected but not transmitted until you activate PM/400.
Information whenever you need it...wherever you need it
The data is then summarized and sent to IBM for analysis. Reports and graphs showing a snapshot of weekly happenings are then returned periodically to you showing you iSeries or AS/400's utilization and growth trends. To see a sample of PM/400 graphs and reports, click here.
